Mathematics Resources in the Curriculum Resources Collection

Mathematics resources in the Curriculum Resources Collection have been collected to support teaching across the curriculum from Kindergarten to Year 12 as per the programme laid out in the syllabus documents

Students should be provided with a sound understanding of mathematical concepts, processes and strategies and the capacity to use these in solving problems.

Copies of syllabus and support documents may also be found on the Board of Studies web site. This site is crucial as all new documents will be published on it, but may not be accessible in hard copy.

There are other resources, mostly realia spread throughout the 511 - 513 number range. The Curriculum Resources Collection endeavours to ensure that there are many of the concrete materials necessary for teaching in the classroom. For that reason, there are polydrons, tangrams and other realia available for loan.

The introduction of the new HSC has meant a change in name for most of the syllabus and courses involved, but no change in actual content. The exception is for General Mathematics which replaces Maths in society and Maths in practice. This has included a development in that graphics calculators will be used.

The current syllabus documents include the following:

 510.712944 20 General mathematics : stage 6 : syllabus
Mathematics (2 Unit, 3 Unit and 4 Unit Mathematics)
Now known as:
Mathematics (Old 2 Unit)
Mathematics Extension 1(Old 3 Unit)
Mathematics Extension 2(Old 4 Unit)
Previously known as:
Mathematics 4 Unit Year 12 at 510.712944 7A
 Mathematics 2/3 Unit Years 11-12 at 510.712944 3B

Copies of all Syllabus documents for Mathematics Stage 6 can be found on the Board of Studies site. This is an important site as many of the documents, especially the support documents, are no longer available in hard copy

An important reference site for all HSC matters is the Charles Sturt University HSC Online . The subject point for Mathematics is well worth a visit.

Copies of the Syllabus documents for every stage can be found in the Curriculum Resources Collection. One copy is kept in Reference and other copies in the loan collection.

Secondary Mathematics resources are predominantly found at 510, 510.712 and 510.76.
