The following is a quick reference guide to the APA style of referencing. The Faculty of Education and Social Work requires this style for assessments submitted. Please note that units of study in other faculties may have other styles of referencing, so please ensure that you confirm what these are with the unit of study co-ordinator.
Conducting Research

EndNote Practice Text
Literacy is values laden. There can be no doubt that this statement is at the basis of controversy and debate for decades about the nature of the learning process that creates an unconsciously competent reader. There are strong endorsements of a variety of stances within the debate, from the emotive discussion of phonics versus whole language, classics versus ‘new literacies’ through the gamut of positions which embrace a variety of each strategy.
The introduction of the concept of multimodal texts into the teaching of English has helped to crystallise debates about critical literacy, visual literacy and ‘new literacy’. As an aspect of this debate, the place of picture books in the middle and senior years of the English classroom has been contested by a number of critics, and ably supported by practicing teachers.
