Resources for coursework

A part of the University of Sydney libraries service to teaching staff is the provision of Reserve and E-reserve.

Reserve; Books in our Reserve collection are available to students for two hour loan periods. This short loan period ensures equitable access to high demand texts. Teaching staff should let us know which texts they have set as core readings and we will add the book to the Reserve collection for the semester/s that the course is being taught.

E-reserve; Offers teaching staff the service of making some chapters and journal articles available through our online catalogue. We will ensure that the readings don't contravene copyright laws and that students are able to access them online from off-campus using their Unikey or borrower number. These readings can be linked into e-learning sites via a permanent link from the catalogue.

To order items to be placed on either Reserve or E-reserve please email your Faculty Liaison Librarian the following details:

  • For copies: Article/chapter author, article/chapter title, journal/book title, year published, volume/edition, issue, pagination.
  • For books: Book author, title and publishing details (publisher, date, edition). Please note that where possible we like to use the most recent edition of a text.

Please note that there are copyright restrictions which limit what we are able to put on e-reserve. For more information on what we are able to copy and link to please see the University's Copyright Guide. Please also be aware that the library will only create records for copyrighted material i.e. we don't create records for content that is available freely online or material such as lecture notes.
