Geography Portal on the ABS Website Did you know that the most common locality name in Australia is Springfield? Find out this and more about ABS statistical geography via this new section of the ABS website!
New Australian Statistical Geography Standard The ASGS is a new statistical geography that will replace the Australian Standard Geographical Classification (ASGC) in July 2011.
Data Australia is a new website for Australian government public information datasets The Australian Government Government 2.0 Taskforce also released a number of datasets which were available for mashups the use of "web-based application that takes one or more of the Government datasets and combines them either with each other or with any number of publicly accessible web services and open datasets to create something new."

For help in using the ABS Website and associated products

The most recent Census of Population and Housing was conducted on 9 August 2011. This was Australia's sixteenth national Census, and marked 100 years of national Census taking in Australia. The ABS will release the results of the 2011 Census through a wide range of products and services designed to make it easy for users to access the data they need. Most data from the 2011 Census will be released free of charge.
Data is released in 3 stages:
The First results were released on 21 June 2012.
The Second release was on 30 October 2012.
The Third release will be on 28 march 2013, with products released progressiveley until the end of 2013.
